Old Town

What a beautiful place! The old town in Zurich has the highest concentration of clubs in Switzerland and one of the most popular shopping streets in the country. You'll also discover a plethora of cultural things in this medieval area. Zurich Old Town is truly a cultural, social and historical melting pot and should be on your things to do list.

Check out the double towers of the Grossmünster (the Great Minster) which are considered to be Zurich's landmark. According to legend, Charlemagne built these two towers at the location where the graves of the city saints Felix and Regula were discovered once upon the time.

King Henry 3 gave the city its first right to hold markets, collect tolls, and make own coins. The first big city wall was built covering the 38 hectars and its citizens, the second wall then came up during the 16th and 17th centuries when Zurich tried to isolate it self from the imposing fortifications.
