Lindenhof Square
The Old Town is more or less the same thing as the Lindenhof hill. The Limmat river is dividing the old town, and on the west bank is the 700 meter high Lindenhof. The Limmat river also starts here. The Old City, known as Die Altstadt, is the first Kreis, of totally twelve Zurich distrtict.
A tombstone found in Lindenhof, from the 2nd century, is the earliest written record of the town of Zurich.
Today the Old City is a must and the heart of the city, if you have the time get your self up and have a look at the Limmat river and the Old Town standing at the Lindenhof.
The Lindenhof is a quaint square on a little hill in the heart of Zurich's old town. Raised above Zurich's Altstadt, lime tree-fringed Lindenhof square is where avid chess players meet, locals and tourists kick back in the sunshine. It's a really quiet oasis of tranquillity that let you watch this beautiful city from above and just be without doing anything. This is really a thing you must do, because the spot offers amazing sweeping views over the city's spires, red rooftops and Limmat River.
